Supply Chain Lunch & Learn: Local Impact of U.S. Global Trade Policy
Join the Center for Professional Education, FreightWaves, and the Chattanooga Regional Manufacturers Association for the next Supply Chain Lunch and Learn on October 11, 2019!
About the session:
As supply chains evolve, an increasing number of products are sourced, made, and distributed on a global scale. This evolution, while in most cases has improved diversification among the world’s supply chains, has also increased exposure to a variety of disruptive forces, notably economic disruptions, in an area or region of the globe. Economic disruptions, such as trade impasses that lead to tariff increases, create a ripple effect among trading partners, changing the dynamics of relationships between producers and consumers half-way around the world. Dr. Rafayet Alam, Assistant Professor of Economics at UTC, will explore how current economic trends are influenced by U.S. trade and tariff policies and how uncertainty in a global market may impact companies right here in Chattanooga. Dr. Alam will conclude the discussion by examining the long-term prospect of supply-chain industry in the wake of technological disruptions and increased globalization.
