The Laboratory Manager will be the leader of the NOVONIX Anode Materials Quality Control Lab and will report to the Quality Control Manager. The position will be based out of the facility located in Chattanooga, TN. The selected candidate will work closely with the QC Manager in developing and maintaining operations of the 10ktpa Novonix Riverside Facility QC Laboratory. This position requires experience in management of laboratory equipment operation/maintenance and laboratory personnel. The Lab Manager will be responsible for safety, efficient operation of the lab, and maintaining Novonix’s high standard for quality material analysis. Below are the expected work streams, and approximate time/effort for each stream.
The Lab manager will work with the safety department to develop and maintain policies and procedures. The Lab Manager will work with the safety department to address all safety concerns.
Data Validation (15%)
The Lab Manager will be responsible for ensuring the quality and validity of the laboratory’s data reporting. This includes keeping all measurement instruments calibrated and keeping the measurement system in control.
Equipment Management (15%)
The Lab Manager will be responsible for keeping the lab instruments in good condition, this includes working with the engineering team to schedule regular preventative maintenance either by laboratory personnel or authorized instrument specialists.
Sample Management (10%)
The Lab Manager will oversee the management of sample analysis process flow from collection, storage, and finally disposal. The Lab Manager will need experience using a LIMS to maintain sample storage and organization.
Method Development (20%)
The Lab Manager will see that all analytical methods are meet or exceed the standards of Novonix and its customers, this involves ensuring that the best analytical methods and instruments are used for measurement of the anode material and precursors. The Lab Manager will create and maintain a culture of continual improvement in both methods and process workflow.
Personnel Management (30%)
The Lab Manager will oversee the hiring and management of the laboratory team members.
Policy and Procedure Management (5%)
The Lab Manager will be responsible for keeping all laboratory relevant documents up to date and compliant with internal control document procedures.
The selected candidate will have the following minimum skills and experience:
– BS degree in chemistry or related scientific field
– 5 years of laboratory management experience
– Experience with ICP-OES
– Experience operating a glove box
– Working knowledge of laboratory practices and procedures
– Experience with an ERP such as SAP or Oracle NetSuite
– Experience with a LIMS
